It's been a while

Staind  is a north American alternative rock band that was formed in 1995 in Springfield, Massachusettes. Up to now, Staind has recorded seven studio albums: Tormented, Dysfunction Break the Cycle , 14 shades of grey ,chapter V , The Illusion of Progress and their self-titled album that just came out in 2011. Influences that I found interesting are Korn, Rage against the Machine, Pantera, and Machine Head. It's Been Awhile, my all time favorite song by them was number one on Billboard's Top 200 in the 90`s  , a suprising achievement for a rock band when everyone was in a rap and hip hop phase. This song means a lot to me because he sings about his addiction, real problems that happen to everyone, not pathetic lyrics about sex money and drugs. In the song, he mentions how he overcame his problems because of a girl, how love can conquer all. A beautiful song to me, and always will be. :)

Peace, love & Pink Floyd.

Let's rewind about fourty years back. Say hello to the sixties, an era where I truly believe had the most interesting music clearly due to drug experimentation. The sixties were full of insperational & experimental music, good candidates to prove this are The Beatles, Rolling Stones, Jimi Hindrex,  Janis Joplin,  the Door's & Pink Floyd, which happens to be one of my favorite bands in this category. Pink Floyd was born in 1965 in London, England, starting off as an underground band they were realized then by a lot of the population and made it big. Girls, money & drugs resulted in band members depression and even leaving. Pink Floyd released fourteen amazing albums in their duration and had never failed to keep their fans happy. Comfortably Numb is one of my favorite songs off The Wall, the meaning of it is obviously being numb therefor using drugs to get to that point.
When you watch the video you'll understand how the use of drugs effected.

And after all you're my wonderwall.

Hey guys,

For the longest time, I've been interested in the band Oasis. They were formed in 1991 in Manchester, England. A 90's alternative band, who have a very relaxed sound. To show you guys just how great I think they are, I would like to talk to you about one of my all time favorite songs ' Wonderwall ' a song made the year I was born, and one of the most beautiful love songs I know. Everyone have their own meanings for this song, but to me I think it's about how he loves someone, and considers them his ' Wonderwall ' a person who gives him hope in life, someone he can depend on when everything is going wrong.  "Because maybe  You're gonna be the one that saves me And after all  You're my wonderwall "   He's also saying that whatever they go through will be worth it in the end " And all the roads we have to walk are winding
And all the lights that lead us there are blinding"
I can really relate to this song right now, which makes it an even better choice for my selection. Oasis will always be one of my all time favorite bands. No doubt about it.

Mumford and sons.

Whatsup music lovers,

I recently came upon a new band called Mumford and Sons, a really inspiring group from the United Kingdom. When people associate folk rock to a band, I normally don't go out of my way to listen to them but Mumford and Sons were a definite exception. They're honestly the most genuine band I know of at the moment. So unique and full of melodic ideas all tied into one. It was hard to pick one song, but I think i'm going to go with ' After the Storm ' the only song they didn't make on stage but actually in the studio. It's really powerful and moving & the lyrics are really up lifting. "And there will come a time, you'll see, with no more tears. And love will not break your heart, but dismiss your fears. Get over your hill and see what you find there, With grace in your heart and flowers in your hair." When you listen to the song, you can tell that the writer has been through a lot and is trying to say that you need to experience the bad and sorrow in life in order to know what happiness is, which to me means a lot because I know exactly what he means. I really like this band & I'm so glad I came upon them. (:

Music conquers all.

 Dear music lovers,

For the next couple weeks I'll be posting songs and I'll explore them thoroughly. Music to certain people mean nothing but a beat. To me music is more. Music is my lifeline.
Today, my song choice is Emancipate by Ashes of Soma a song I recently found a very deep liking for. Ashes of Soma is an alternative canadian band originally from Windsor, Ontario. My hometown. The reason why I'm so addicted to this well thought out piece of art is because I truly enjoy the placement of instruments in the song, the lyrics are well thought out and have a lot of emotion built in it. The meaning of the song depends on the listener of the song. To me it seems like whoever wrote it was starting to feel fed up with everything & couldn't handle anymore. Hence the lyrics " Remember the time that I waste it's all the same just hate the way it seems Carry all this weight on my shoulder I'll tear this all apart "  It seems like he's giving up.
